I've always viewed experimental film as those "hard to sit through animation" especially the ones from National Film Board.
But that was two years ago, it really changed my mind when I started to see potentials and originality from those film instead of pure entertainment and story.
Of course they can still be a delight to watch and embedded with a genre story, but the essence of experimental film is to demonstrate unexpected visuals and creates never been done effects.
